Miguel was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, and grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. He speaks English and Spanish, and is working on his French. Miguel graduated from the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan, in 1979. He is a member of the Law Societies of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

An experienced courtroom lawyer, Miguel works mainly in the areas of business and estate disputes, accidental injury claims, and criminal law. He also maintains an active commercial and business law practice. His management and business experience gives him an insight and understanding of the business world that few other lawyers possess.

Miguel represents Saskatchewan on the National Council of the Canadian Bar Association. He is a Governor of the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association and sits on the CBA of Alberta's Administration of Justice Committee. Miguel has written articles for "The Advocate", a publication of the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, and is a guest lecturer for the Saskatchewan Bar Admission Course.

Miguel's personal philosophy:

"Being a lawyer is more than simply acting as an advocate or as an adviser. It is caring about my clients. It is about crafting legal documents using plain language that my clients can understand.. It is about planning before acting. It is about solutions."
